The Greene County Rams handed the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks a pair of Heart of Iowa losses in Tuesday night basketball in Colfax.
The girls set a new school record for scoring in 5-on-5 basketball with an 85-37 victory. According to head coach Chad Morton, the “mercy rule” running clock makes records more difficult to break.
Four girls scored in double digits: Jolee Wessling, 18, Kayla Mobley, 16, Hannah Onken, 13, and Tressa Rasmussen, 10. Onken had a double-double with 18 offensive rebounds and 14 defensive rebounds.
“It was a good win for us on the road. Every player contributed and scored. To have four girls in double digits in awesome,” Morton said.
The Greene County girls are now 7-7 overall and 6-6 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. C-M is 0-12 overall.
The Ram boys also put up a decisive victory against the 0-11 Tigerhawks with a 65-47 score. Trey Tucker led the team in scoring with 28 points. Landon Braun scored nine points, Max Neese had eight, and Sico Boateng and Mitchell Gorsuch each scored seven.
The win brings the boys’ record to 5-7 overall and 4-7 in the HOIAC.
